In Orange County, Middletown High School senior Tifuci "TC" Reid died during the single-vehicle crash at 6:10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, near 581 Midland Lakes Road in the Town of Wallkill.

"This loss has left us all in shock and sorrow, and words can hardly convey the depth of our grief at this time," Middletown Superintendent of Schools Amy Creeden said in a statement.

According to Town of Wallkill Police Deputy Chief Antonino Spano, when officers responded to the report of a crash, they found a vehicle off the roadway into a telephone pole and three occupants inside the car, as well as a victim on the road.

The vehicle's driver (Reid), an 18-year-old Wallkill resident, was suffering from severe injuries and was treated at the scene by Town of Wallkill Emergency Medical Services, then later pronounced dead, Spano said.

"TC was a cherished member of our school family; he will be remembered for his warm smile and the kindness and joy he brought to all who knew him," Creeden said. "Our hearts are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him during this tough time."

Counseling was offered to all students, staff, and family members in need at the school.

"Let us honor TC’s memory by showing kindness to one another and finding strength in our community," she added. Our thoughts remain with TC's family and all who loved him. Together, we will navigate these dark times with love and compassion. We are one Middletown. "

Three others were injured in the crash, with one in stable condition and two others who remain critical, Spano said.

Those injured have not been identified.
